North Highlands Nordic Hosting Winter ActiveFest Event – March 1st

North Highlands Nordic (Cape North) will be taking part in Winter ActiveFest on Saturday March 1st with complimentary day trail passes, draw prizes and the “Giant” radio station broadcasting live from the ski room, this was made possible in partnership with Naturally Active Victoria Countyy Active” and “Take the Roof off Winter”

Great skiing at North Highlands Nordic with all 12 km of trails groomed for both classic and skate skiing. The ski room is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. For more information please call 902-383-2479

“Take your Heart and your Sweetheart for a Winter Walk”

Friday, February 14, 2014
7 PM – Join us on a moonlight trek to the Alexander Graham Bell Estate. Snowshoes or cross country skis-poles are recommended. We will travel on the lower part of the high level road to Beinn Bhreagh Hall and return. (Distance approximately 4.5 km)

Enjoy lovely views of Kidston Island, Baddeck, Washabuckt, Boularderie Island and of the Boisdale Hills up to Iona. The first part of the trail has a gentle incline and is mostly sheltered. Dress in layers, and bring water.

Poles are recommended – A headlamp may be helpful if it is cloudy.

Please register with Vince, Naturally Active, Physical Activity Department @ 295-3661 by Feb 14th at noon. (Weather permitting) – Hope you can come! Tim Horton’s Hot Chocolate provided to keep you warm!

Let’s Officially Open Winter ActiveFest at a Great Facility! THE GIANT 101.9 RADIO WILL BE BROADCASTING LIVE ON LOCATION AT SKI CAPE SMOKEY FROM 9 AM TO 1 PM, COME JOIN THE FUN. Tim Hortons Refreshments available.
*Special: Two for the price of one on Lift passes. Pay only $15 for a Lift pass and a friend receives a free Lift pass.

Ingonish River Valley Snowshoe Hike
Starts at 10:00 am at the Ingonish River sign in Ingonish Harbour. (Only One mile beyond Ski Cape Smokey). Will snowshoe up the South Side of the River for approximately four miles and return by the same route. This hike is on flat terrain. The moose are plentiful in the Valley this time of year. This Hike will be 3-4 hours long. Will have to cross a few small brooks, so wear waterproof footwear. For further information, please contact Guide Lawrence Barron lawrencebarron@hotmail.ca
