June Events at the Baddeck Library

Every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m., the Baddeck Library hosts free, informal lectures on a wide variety of subjects. Here is the line-up for the rest of June:

Ramblings in the Highlands – with Clarence Barrett
Join naturalist and photographer Clarence Barrett for a slide show of Northern Cape Breton. Barrett is the author of “Cape Breton Highlands National Park: A Park Lover’s Companion,” a memoir of discovery and exploration that takes readers along every trail and byway of the island’s national treasure.

June 26
A Little Less Litter, Cape Breton!
Litter in Nova Scotia has increased by 21% between 2004 and 2009, according to the Department of Environment. Marian Whitcomb has been cleaning up Cape Breton beaches and knows first-hand how litter affects our environment. Her presentation is aimed at families and individuals who want to do their part to keep litter in its place.

An Evening of Celebration – The Baddeck Library is happy to be hosting an evening of celebration in honour of Bill Conall whose second novel, “The Promised Land – a Novel of Cape Breton” has won the 2014 Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour.

The celebration takes place at 6:30 p.m., “after hours” at the library. The event will feature a selection of readings and song, as well as a Q&A, book signing, refreshments, and good conversation. (see poster attached)
